CHRISTIAN MURPHY OBITUARY
MARSHALL HERALD

Christian, son of Absalom and Elizabeth Murphy, was born in Clark County, May 10, 1844; died at the hospital at Anna, Illinois, February 13, 1913, aged sixty-eight years, nine months and two days.
He was married April 15, 1869, to Diana E. Clark. This union was blessed with eight children, all of whom but two daughters survive him. He enlisted with the 123rd Illinois Volunteers and spent nearly three years in the service of the Heavenly king many years ago and now peacefully sleeps awaiting his return to make all things glorious and new.
Beside the wife, who with him shared life's sorrows, for more than forty years, he leaves three sons, three daughters, ten grand children, three sisters, four brothers and many other relatives and friends, who will hold in sweet remembrance this dear one who sought ever to be just and kind.
He was laid to rest Saturday in the Bluegrass Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by rev. S.L. Lindsay of Oregon, Illinois.
