ROSTER
- OF THE -
86TH REGT. ILLINOIS VOLUNTEER INFANTRY
WITH THE PRESENT POST OFFICE ADDRESS, SO FAR AS KNOWN, OF
EACH SURVIVOR.
To make the following Regimental Roster as full and complete as possible I copied each company roster from the Adjutant General's report and sent it to the executive committeeman of each company respectively, with a request that he correct all errors
So many years have elapsed since the regiment was disbanded it is found utterly impossible to locate all the comrades, or even tell in some cases whether dead or alive.
As to the matter of rank, I gave each comrade the HIGHEST rank he attained at any time, making no note of and reductions; and in all cases gave the rank of the highest commission held without regard to whether the individual was "mustered" or not.
