Note - A large portion of this Regiment were taken prisoners at the battle of Lexington, Mo., Sep 20, 1861, others returned to their homes, and some enlisted elsewhere. An order of muster out was issued by General Fremont Oct 8, 1861, which was afterward countermanded by the Secretary of War. Many of the early records of the Regiment were destroyed by the enemy. A number of enlisted men returned to the Regiment and were reorganized. These facts explain the absence of record of several men after their muster on Jun 15, 1861.
