Lucias C. Runion (Spelled "Ranyon" in the AGR) Co. K, 92nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry

L. C. Runion enlisted in the Union army first as a 90 day recruit in Missouri and then in Illinois after his family moved there. He was mustered into the 92nd Illinois Infantry, Co. K. He made every muster and was mustered out as a Sergeant at the end of the war. His unit was part of Sherman's army on the March to the Sea. He and his companions swore an oath not to shave their beards in memory of their fallen comrades. See the Civil War diary of Lucias C. Runion. Submitted by John Runion
