Isaac M. Robertson

Company G, 5th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry

Isaac McDonald Robertson was born 17 Jan 1841 in Overton Co., TN and died 5 May 1928 at Pocahontas, AR. He married Frances M. (Fanna) Gossage (born 14 Dec 1846, Bedford Co, TN; died 27 Nov 1887, Johnson Co, IL) on 15 Dec 1861 in Golconda, Pope Co, IL. They had 8 children, 7 of whom lived to maturity. Isaac had 3 brothers who served from Kentucky. His named is spelled Robinson/Roberson in some records.

He enlisted in Company G of the 6th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry on 24 Sep 1861 at Golconda, Pope Co., IL. He was mustered in 19 Nov 1861 at Camp Butler near Springfield, IL. They were moved to Shawneetown, IL on 25 Nov 1861 and camped until Feb of 1862 when they moved to Paducah, KY.

He was listed as a deserter, but later cleaared (12 Sep 1885) under Act of Congress 5 Jul 1884. He received a pension for disability from kidney and neuralgia contracted at Germantown, TN in 1863 and received treatment at a hostpital in La Grange, TN.
