Charles Lane served with the Illinois 64th Infantry Volunteers and also enlisted out of Yorktown, Illinois. He was a cousin of Mrs. William Oscar Hixson (also a member of the 64th).

Charles A. Lane is buried at the Leon Methodist Cemetery, Leon, Illinois (just south of Prophetstown).
