Elijah Riley Bailey and his brother, Henry James Bailey were both with Company I of the 123rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. This picture is of the two men and some of their siblings. Front row, l-r: Martha Jane Bailey Brown Acton, Mary Bailey Berry, Sarah "Sally" Bailey Alexander and Melvina Bailey Ward. Back row, l-r: Henry James Bailey, Elijah Riley Bailey, and David H. Bailey. Henry James Bailey mustered out June 28, 1865 and Elijah Riley Bailey was discharged due to disabilty on March 7, 1864. He had injuries received at Hoover's Gap from a cannonball passing his head. |
